Web-based Product  |  Responsive Design

what is digisign?

Digisign is a digital fan experience. Think – a meet & greet with your favorite celebrity on a video call, paired with a live autograph signing.

Over the last year, I worked hand and hand with the marketing and development team establishing the user journey, style guidelines, and new features while continuing to improve and elevate the user experience.

Project Scope: 12 months
Role: In-house UX/UI Lead, Wireframing, Prototyping, Responsive Design, User Testing
Tools: Figma, Miro

defining the product

The focus for the MVP was the Talent user journey and solidifying the Dashboard, Event Creation, and Autograph Session Experience for the Talent. Initially we were partnering strictly with college athletes thru a partnership with INFLCR, however, we have since broadened our client scope.

user personas

Initially built for the college athlete persona in mind, Digisign soon expanded into several industries: professional sports, publishing and more.

user flows

Working thru the Talent's Event Creation user flow, we have continued to evolve this with the premium subscription plan and additional new features.

initial mockups

After understanding the vision of the founders as well as the business priorities for the MVP, I worked hand and hand with the team over a three week timeline to get the product from mockup stage to high fidelity wireframes for our developers.

From the start, we knew we would be using Whereby, a video conferencing tool, for our video component during events. This added an extra level of complexity, understanding the possibilities and constraints we had to work with on our fully responsive web-based platform.

establishing the style guide

Leading with a simplistic dark mode theme allowed us to create a cohesive, sleek website keeping in mind various headshots and images would be provided by talents in the event creation and promotion on the Digisign website.

Talent's Dashboard

Leading with the Talent's Upcoming Events, the user can easily manage or start their event. Followed by the Talent's Analytics Overview, the user is able to see at a glance their Total Revenue Earnings, Current Account Balance, Pending Estimated Funds, Total Number of Tickets they've sold, and Time Spent with Fans.

Talent's Account Page

Containing the Talent's Pending Payout Requests, Events in Review, and Records, the user can request a pay out of their earnings and see their pending estimated funds all in one place.

event creation

Talent is able to create and promote their event in 4 steps – setting the date and time; number of tickets available; price of the ticket; autograph and promotional imagery, sharing their event on their social.

the talent's event

The Talent can easily start their event from their dashboard, and once in, they can decide to activate Sidecar Signing (autographing can be done on a secondary device, ie a tablet). When they are ready, they can then start calling their fans in one by one.

Tested extensively across many devices, the Talent can select between a pen, a brush, neon marker, or 3D liquid when signing. Additionally, Talent can select between a set of default colors or custom select any color as well in the toolbar.

event registration

The guest can register for a Talent's event by either receiving a link, discovering it on a Talent's social, or finding in on digisign's website via the Event Page. After successfully registering, the fan can share the event to others. The fan will also be sent two notifications (email and SMS) reminding them of the event and when doors are open.

the event has started

The fan can enter the event up to 15 minutes before the event actually begins to adjust their camera and mic. Additionally, they can chat amongst other attendees or view the Talent's promotional links (Instagram, Youtube Channel, Merch store, etc)

Once the fan is called in, they will have three chances to answer the Talent's call. Once in the call with the Talent, the fan can ask questions and view the live autograph signing from the Talent.

Following the call, the fan will be led to their Thank You Page containing the final autographed keepsake. The fan can choose to directly post on social or share view email or SMS. In addition, the fan will receive a Thank You Email for attending also containing their autographed keepsake.

key insights

Lobby3.jpg

Virtual Lobby

During user testing, we found the Talent usually needed a few extra minutes to get situated with the platform, when the event started. Guests were then left waiting aimlessly not knowing when the event was open. In turn, we introduced the Virtual Lobby allowing fans to enter the event up to 15 mins before the event started thus allowing them to prep their mic and camera and receive further context when they'll be meeting with the Talent.

Sidecar3.jpg

Sidecar Signing for the Talents

Allowing the Talent to autograph images easily on a second device (most often a tablet) by simply scanning a QR code, Sidecar Signing was brought in earlier to prevent user frustrations of having to talk on a video call on one's laptop/desktop as well as autograph images which was not intuitive for the end user.

Event Drafts.jpg

Event Drafts

With user frustration of losing event details when an event was not scheduled, we implemented the ability to save a draft of an event to provide the user with additional time before scheduling without losing all the details entered.

iterate, iterate, iterate

The Admin Role

Frequently asked about, this new role allows more influential or busy talents to have a producer create and manage their events and account. Thus allows the Talent to simply focus on meeting their fans and autographing images.

SuoerAdmin.jpg

Event Summary

Painting a clearer picture for the Talent, the Event Summary is triggered after the Talent inputs all Ticketing Details. This section helps the Talent visualize their potential earnings with this single event and push them to schedule their events.

Premium Subscription

The premium user gets exclusive access to amazing features during event creation that allow for more personalization and unique meet and greet experiences. This includes a video autograph on a static image, group fan sessions, and much more.

learnings & reflections

What would I do differently

Elevate Experience

I'd build on and bring in more micro animations to elevate the meet and greet experience before, during and after the event

More Personalization

I would now focus on personalization for the Talent, especially with the promotional social post templates. This would allow the talent to select between 3-4 designs that better suited their style.

Pushing for More User Feedback

I would consistently establish opportunities during and after the event to quickly survey the fan and talent, pushing them to leave feedback. This would have helped me iterate on my previous designs sooner while also designing for new features.

Getting caught in minor details

With the speed a start up runs at and the many hats everyone has to wear, I'd tell my past self to not worry about the micro details initially (icon design, website animation, etc) when building a product and intricate ecosystem. With future features and user feedback, the first iteration will not be the end all be all.
